I started blogging at http://sanpaku72.blogspot.com. Also I put an article online called XAML (Silverlight) and SVG.

Ping! Yes, I’m still alive, and the list of MPAA still keeps growing and growing. Although the concept of blogs is very appealing and blogs make a good read, I don’t sit down and write to this news page that often.

Many new film numbers thanks to new additions by Tonio Fraga and Andreas from Sweden. Herbert contributed a lot of AFI stuff (1956-1957).

Two days ago I received a contributory mail from someone I tried to reach over two years ago: Lee McComish. He’s also very interested in collecting movie numbers. He couldn’t have joined the “project” at a better time. John, Herbert and I have started to hunt the errors from our lists!

Happy New Year… Thanks to the kind assistance of John Denton I learned that there’s actually two sets of movie numbers. The largest set (over 40,000 numbers) has no leading zero, whereas the other one (about 6,700 numbers) does. I am in the process of sorting things out. This will also diminish the number of double numbers from my list. Thanks John!

Some changes to the Happy Cube section: I updated the link to Jürgen Köller’s Site and made some references to stuff contributed by Willem Siemelink and Michael Kiermaier. Currently, there are 14,493 entries in the MPAA movie numbers list.

14,000. Another milestone is reached; we’re over 33% now. Also: welcome on board, John Denton.

10,000. My list of MPAA movie numbers now has exactly this number of entries, because of the hard work done by Herbert Lotz and myself.

It’s been another few months since the last update to the News page. That doesn’t actually mean nothing changed at all. I have added many entries to my list of MPAA certificate numbers since. After Herbert Lotz (who still is a reliable source of numbers), another kind person from Germany has contributed some: Peter Fiser. On a side note, if you use Microsoft Internet Explorer on Windows, you may have noticed that the “Toine Online” text in the upper right corner is actually not in the MS Comic Sans font. It is a font inspired by the handwriting of one of the founding fathers of computing science, Edsger W. Dijkstra. Sadly, he passed away August 6th at his home in Nuenen.

Many interesting things these days. First of all, I’m looking into a suitable way to handle the large (500 KB) file of MPAA movie numbers. The fact that the French movie numbers are listed through XML and databinding is a step into the right direction. Thanks to a submission by Ryan Mead I also know now that movie number 00003 is “Baby Take a Bow (1934)”. Other XML issues are that I fixed an error in the way an XSL file was included as the source of an iframe. Apparently NNSysdev has a new address after @Home’s dismise. Juergen Koeller has created a link to my Happy Cube page. Added a link myself to Thomer M. Gil’s Happy Cube solver.

Seems there have not been very much updates to my site lately. But then again, it’s not a weblog. One part has been modified regularly, though I did not mention it on the main page, which is the MPAA movienumbers. Thanks to a recent large contribution of numbers by Herbert and Tobias Lotz, this list is growing even more rapidly.

Link to the full credits for Willow (1988) added, thanks to Connie Green.

The section on Anton Phlips is getting larger and more coherent. Many cross references between many persons and buildings mentioned.

The regular updates. Increased line-height should add to ergonomic reading of paragraphs.

Still doing small updates on the MPAA movie numbers section. Today I was able to visit the former house of the Philips family at the Parklaan in Eindhoven, so I rewrote some parts of the Anton Philips section.

I added the basics to a new example, demonstrating application of CSS to more or less HTML and XML. Smallish addition to the MPAA movie numbers, with many that were hard to read. Can can kind soul with access to movies like these, for instance the “Tom and Jerry” series and “The Three Stooges” verify and/or add to the list?

Yet another massive addition to MPAA movie numbers. Future updates are going to be a lot smaller…
Saturday, September 1st, 2001
Oops, it’s been two weeks already since the last update. Massive addition to MPAA movie numbers again.
Saturday, August 18th, 2001
The MPAA movie numbers list is growing steadily.
Wednesday, August 15th, 2001
Small updates again. Added link to newest Microsoft XML article.

Using CSS really pays off! I changed the font (Arial 9pt) and the background color (#D0D0D0) for all of my my pages in an instant. To me it feels it’s much better readable now.

Several minor updates in movie numbers section, XML section. Still trying to find out how to size an iframe to fit its content automagically.
Sunday, August 12th, 2001
MPAA Movie numbers from WB are ready up to and including 1954 (todo: 1955-1964). The list of recent additions has been removed from the file (it’s long enough already). The Dutch section on Anton Philips has been extended with some info. I also added a page summarizing some of my hardware interest (see Topics|Various hardware projects). By the way, if you do not see the text “Toine Online” in Dijkstra’s handwriting, you probably entered this site through “http://members.chello.nl/~a.degreef”. For some reason only known by Chello (my ISP), this is mapped to “http://httpd.chello.nl/~a.degreef/”. I created the Dijkstra webfont (EOT) with the WEFT tool. Web fonts only work for the domain you specify. To see the font correctly, make sure to append “index.html” to the URL.

I’ve been very busy, so there have been no updates to the site in the last few months. There’s a major update on the list of movie numbers (that still requires more processing). An XML databind example (IE5+ only) is on the way. The counter is up-to-date with Netstat’s new standards. I still need to write down some interesting things about XML (including XMLHttp for the Pocket PC), make the site NN4 compatible etc.
Tuesday, March 6th, 2001
I updated the section on XML for Windows CE. My company (Serendip-IT) is very interested in integrating portable devices (i.e. Pocket PC, Palm and others) into automation of the workflow chain. PIE (Pocket Internet Explorer) with its built-in support for XML seems a likely candidate to fullfill our needs.

My homepage will be updated to appeal to an international audience. This implies translation of some of the parts that are in Dutch. I seem to be spending quite some time on this pages now, and to force myself to mention the updates every now and then, I reversed the order of the News item.
Saturday, February 17th, 2001 and Sunday, February 18th, 2001
I started two new topics: Marco van Basten (Dutch soccer player) and a list of MPAA movie numbers. Also I intend to turn mu whole site upside down to support Mozilla (Mozilla 0.x, Netscape 6, K-Meleon). Look & feel is nearing completion, with JavaScript functions left todo.
Tuesday, February 6th, 2001
My pages comply to W3 standards for HTML (4.01) and CSS1. Click the icons in the top frame to learn more and/or verify.
Monday, February 5th, 2001
I finally added the Happy Cube article scan, and two new solutions. I also tested my scanner with some pictures, amongst others some related to dr. Anton Philips. Netscape support and HTML 4.01 compliance are certainly on my list.
Thursday, September 14th, 2000
I added a new solution on the Happy Cube section.
Wednesday, September 13th, 2000
The first topic of interest is the Happy Cube, known as Wirrel Warrel-kubus in Dutch.
Monday, September 11th, 2000
I changed the pagecontrol in terms of borders and tabsheets. Content (e.g. static content, and more of it) is now displayed in an IFRAME. Links and mail adresses to reach me are online, with some personal info and topics of interest to follow…
Saturday, September 9th, 2000
Welcome to my personal homepage, that I started today. Therefore, it’s still under construction. Pages look different (e.g. ugly) in Netscape Navigator from Microsoft Internet Explorer (4.0 and up). I started to implement a pagecontrol using 2 tables, a stylesheet and some JavaScript functions. Netscape support for stylesheets seems to differ, especially in terms of border & margin styles. As soon as more content is added, the pagecontrol will become more interesting…
